The theme of the book is the exploration of new exciting ways to stretch the boundaries of watercolour and the importance of stepping outside one's comfort zone in order to develop as an artist. Ann experiments with a variety of new methods and ideas to explore traditional subjects with a contemporary twist. The book mixes a variety of loose ,expressive styles, collage, mixed media and some semi abstract interpretations. Flowers are looked at both with and without backgrounds and there is a section looking at painting wildflowers in the landscape.

This new DVD is the companion film to Ann's latest book on painting flowers. Like the book, the underlying theme is about experimenting and playing with watercolour, mixed media and different surfaces. However the actual content of the DVD is different to the book. Demonstrations include blossom with lilac, roses, a garden poppy, bluebell wood, and two mixed media sunflowers. There is a gallery section at the end which features Ann discussing some of her latest most innovative work .
